The seat of Humboldt County, Winnemucca is found less than three hours from Reno in northern Nevada. While in Winnemucca, you'll enjoy the Humboldt Museum – be sure to check out the 13,000-year-old Wolly Mammoth bones. Once you’re in the spirit, take a drive over to one of the nearby ghost towns including Camp McGarry, Camp Winfield Scott, and Willow Point.

If you’re more into outdoor adventure, head out to Rye Patch Reservoir for fishing and water-skiing. The Winnemucca Sand Dunes are set just off U.S. Route 95 and are less than 10 miles from downtown Winnemucca. And for some fun hiking and biking, try the Bloody Shins Trail and the Water Canyon Recreational Area.
