Visiting Southern Nevada
Stray from the well-beaten Las Vegas Strip to see why the rest of southern Nevada is a travel destination in its own right. From the Las Vegas suburb of Henderson to Pahrump, Mesquite, and Tonopah, a wealth of festivals, special events, outdoor adventure opportunities, and family-friendly fun means this season’s a great time to discover the Silver State’s region less traveled.
Henderson hails motor heads, September 24th through 27th, when the 2015 Super Run Classic Car Show is held at the Henderson Events Plaza. The weekend of high-octane activities features vendors, special events, and plenty of classic muscle cars and antiques on display. The fun revs up at 10 a.m. each day.
That same weekend, Pahrump says goodbye to summer with the 2015 Fall Festival. It’s four days of carnival rides, games, contests, rodeo fun, and even a parade – all at Petrack Park. Best of all, admission is free.
The fall fun in Pahrump continues with the 2015 Grape Stomp. Visit the Pahrump Winery for this DIY wine tasting event where attendees stomp their own grapes, browse local craft vendors, enjoy live music, and savor food pairings. The pours start flowing at 11 a.m. both days.
World-class pilots take to the skies to compete in the 2015 Red Bull Air Race World Championship, held at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway Motorsports Complex near North Las Vegas. Get there early to witness the action – show time is at 9:45 a.m. on October 17th and 18th.
Las Vegas visitors take a step back in time at the 2015 Age of Chivalry Renaissance Festival. Sunset Park in southwestern Las Vegas hosts its Renaissance Festival, October 9th through 11th, drawing big crowds with performers in period dress, traditional food, medieval decor, and activities for just about everyone in the family.
