Visiting Northern Nevada

In northern Nevada, cities like Reno, Carson City and Fallon shine during the spring. Featuring an eclectic mix of stunning natural landscapes (see: Lake Tahoe State Park), small town charms, and a bevy of fun and interesting festivals, your trip around northern Nevada is surefire bet to create long lasting memories. Check out the Nevada State Museum in Carson City, or tour the Nevada Museum of Art in Reno. Don’t miss the 3rd Annual Butch Bridges Memorial Shoot Out at Sage Hill Clay Sports on March 3rd – enjoy on your exploration of northern Nevada.

Affectionately known as “The Biggest Little City in the World,” Reno is an ideal destination on your visit into the northern Nevada region. Aside from the 3rd Annual Butch Bridges Memorial Shoot Out, Reno yields a variety of intriguing things to do and see. Take the kids over to the Fleischmann Planetarium & Science Center for an educational and fun afternoon, and then visit the National Automobile Museum.

April 21st in Reno, you’ll want to experience the Reno Earth Day Celebration at Idlewild Park. The 2013 Reno Earth Day Celebration features a three-point theme: Green Technologies, World Cultures, and The Natural World.

Make your way to Fallon and check out the Top Gun Raceway. Hosting an array of racing events, Top Gun Raceway is a fantastic way to spend an evening this spring in northern Nevada – a true staple of the Fallon tourism landscape. Check out the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series and JR Dragster Divisional, June 7th – 9th at Top Gun Raceway. Later in the month, don’t miss 5 Dollar Friday on the 28th, as part of the Test & Tune Series.

Head into nearby Fernley and utilize the advantageous weather at Pyramid Lake or the Truckee River – both are ideal spots for boating and fishing. Traveling with your clubs? Perfect. Head on over to the Golf Club at Fernley and try for the course record – or sneak in 18 holes before lunch.

Before your time in northern Nevada concludes, plan a visit to Gardnerville. A charming and quaint town, Gardnerville is just minutes from Genoa, host of the annual Genoa Cowboy Festival, May 3rd – 5th. Enjoy live music from Dave Stamey, Riders in the Sky, and Hot Club of Cowtown.
