With fall, students return in force to the University of Nevada Las Vegas ready to cheer on their Rebel athletic teams. Join the Las Vegas community for Rebels Football home games at Sam Boyd Stadium. The 2011 season opens at home against Hawaii on September 17th. The season ends with a November 26th game against San Diego State.
The Twilight Red Rock ½ Marathon and Overlook Ascent offers a challenge for runners visiting Las Vegas. Red Rock Canyon Conservation Area west of Las Vegas, off Route 159, hosts the 2011 event September 17th. Experience this unique run beginning at 8PM, in the beautiful evening shadows of Red Rock Canyon. The Hoover Dam Marathon, Half Marathon and 10K is another great option for runners. Held October 29th, the race begins at Lake Mead, east of Las Vegas near Boulder City. The course takes runners through the Mojave Desert with views of Lake Mead and historic Hoover Dam.
Las Vegas is fun anytime, but fall is exceptional running weather. Events like the Las Vegas Great Santa Run and the 2011 Las Vegas Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon and Half Marathon round out the year the first weekend in December.
