Henderson hosts the 2012 US Open Synchronized Swimming Championships, July 10th through the 14th. Get in the Olympic spirit for synchronized swimming in Henderson at Heritage Park Aquatic Complex. Henderson’s swimming complex features the competition pool and a practice pool for individual, duet and team competitions. If you need a distraction, the Las Vegas Strip is less than 20-miles away.
Celebrate Labor Day in Mesquite at the Smokin’ in Mesquite BBQ. Scheduled Friday September 2nd through Sunday September 4th, events are KCBS sanctioned with a prize purse of $40,000. Festivities include a live DJ, Kid’s Corner and BBQ, with contests including pie eating, salsa making and Daiquiri making. A great family weekend of fun and activities for all – remember the Sunday afternoon sampling for the People’s Choice awards.
September in Las Vegas offers runners and athlete’s premier challenges. The 2012 Ironman World Championship 70.3, hits Lake Las Vegas September 9th, with the 2012 Las Vegas Triathlon on the 23rd. A rich prize purse draws competitors from across the US and the globe to the Las Vegas Ironman World Championship.
Events begin with the 1.2-mile swim in Lake Las Vegas, followed by 56-mile bike through Lake Mead National Recreation Area. The 13.1-mile run through Henderson completes Ironman Las Vegas. Events begin Thursday, September 6th, with the race on Sunday the 9th. Henderson Pavilion is race central, come cheer you racer to the finish line!
The Las Vegas Triathlon, held September 23rd, features individual and relay events for sprint, Olympic and half Ironman distances. Sponsored by Mountain Man Events, the day begins with the swim in Lake Mead, the largest man-made lake in the US. The bike and run courses are also held within Lake Mead National Park, with the start and finish are near the Boulder Beach Ranger station. Take on the challenge of Las Vegas in September.
