The Lost City Museum, in Overton, houses a wonderful collection of artifacts excavated from Anasazi Indian sites near Lake Mead. Once the Hoover Dam was in place, the waters of Lake Mead covered the Pueblo Grande de Nevada - Lost City - sites. The Civilian Conservation Corps conducted the excavation, as well as built the pueblo-revival style adobe brick museum.
Archaeological research is still being conducted on the remaining Lost City sites. The museum also offers outreach programs and school tours. Valley of Fire State Park
The Valley of Fire State Park, dedicated in 1935, is the largest and oldest Nevada state park. The beautiful red sandstone formations, formed 150 million years ago, are the focal point in the park. Bring your camera to capture the petroglyphs on Atlantl Rock, view Arch Rock, Elephant Rock, Mouse's Tank, the Beehives, the Clark Memorial and the Petrified Logs.
