An ideal destination when planning a Lake Tahoe adventure, Carson City is the state capital and set nearly in between Reno and Minden in northern Nevada. Many visitors enjoy skiing at Alpine Meadows, found on the north shore of the beautiful Lake Tahoe. Carson City is full of history, and you’ll find it all on display at the Nevada State Museum – where kids under 17 are admitted free.

Guests also like the Nevada State Railroad Museum – another popular destination in Carson City. Children under 18 are admitted free – although closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years. History buffs may want to hop aboard the V&T Railroad, taking passengers from Gold Hill to Virginia City – where the Comstock Lode gold rush all began.
