Lake Mead National Recreation Area (South)

Lake Mead Recreational Area, managed by the National Park Service since 1964, encompasses over 20,000 acres. The area's two beautiful lakes, Lake Mead and Lake Mohave, are popular havens for boaters, fishermen and swimmers. Hiking and mountain biking are also popular activities. Visitors to the area will find the Mojave Desert, the Sonoran desert and the Great Basin desert, three of the four desert ecosystems found in America.
